Razer™ Launches Gaming-Grade Surface
Tuesday, 08 January 2008

Razer Destructor enables mice to track up to 37% better than on other
professional gaming mousing surfaces

Las Vegas, NV – January 07, 2008 – Razer™, the world’s leading manufacturer of high-end precision gaming and lifestyle electronics peripherals, today unveiled the Razer Destructor™, the optimal gaming-grade mousing surface made for optical and laser mice at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) at the Las Vegas Convention Center at booth number 5733 North. In response to the gaming communities search for improvements in mousing technologies, Razer has co-developed the Razer Destructor with some of the best pro-gaming teams in the world.

Razer Destructor – US: $39.99; Europe: €39.99

* Razer Fractal™ surface for high-precision gameplay
* Optimized for both optical and laser gaming-grade mice
* Ultra-wide size ideal for continuous, rapid swipes: 350mm (length) x 280mm (width) x 2.3mm (height)
* Non-slip rubber base for firm grip on smooth surfaces
* Includes a premium lightweight protective case

AVAILABILTY: January 2008 – Worldwide

About the Razer Destructor:
The Razer Destructor, named after the Gigantiops Destructor ant, is a premium gaming-grade mousing surface. Coated in a highly reactive gunmetal finish, gaming-grade optical mice can track up to 25% better on the Razer Destructor, and gaming-grade laser mice can track up to 37% better on the Razer Destructor when compared to other gaming-mousing surfaces which are designed specifically for extremely precise movements. Concurrent with advancements made by Razer in gaming-grade mousing sensor technology, the Razer Destructor benefits from the extensive research and development done by Razer on optimizing mousing sensor technology. The Razer Destructor has achieved this by offering a solution that facilitates faster tracking speeds, and allows mousing sensors to achiever higher inches per second ratings (IPS) before the mouse reaches its IPS “limit.”

Co-development with pro-gaming teams and their endorsement:
While developing the Razer Destructor, Razer worked closely with numerous world championship professional gamers and teams specializing in a wide spectrum of genres, including pro-gaming teams Fnatic, Evil Geniuses (EG) as well as Quake phenomenon Zhibo “Jibo” Fan. Their collective input was invaluable for the optimization of the Razer Destructor and it is now their officially recommended gaming surface.

“The Razer Destructor offers tracking like no other,” says Harley “dsn” Orwall, captain of Team Fnatic’s CounterStrike team. “Each shot I take is essentially life or death, and Razer understands that. Razer firmly believes in our abilities and that’s why our entire team pitched in to test out the Razer Destructor.” With Harley at the helm of Fnatic's celebrated Counter-Strike squad, Fnatic has had an outstanding run since early 2006, securing no less than four 1st placings in August 2007. The Fnatic Team deservedly won the "eSports Team of the Year Award" in 2006 and are the current reigning CPL Champions. They were also nominated for this year's "Best Team of the Year" eSports Award.

“I’ve been testing out products with Razer for years now and it’s solely because I believe in their ability to pump out the best gaming products on the market today,” states Zhibo “Jibo” Fan. “While training for my matches, I would use prototypes of the Razer Destructor and I’m proud to have given my opinions in the development process.” Based in Moscow, Jibo enjoys celebrity status in the Russian gaming community. He had a stellar year in 2006, dominating the CPL tour in Quake 3 with two 1st placings and an overall 2nd in the Championship Finals.

“Razer has been in gaming technologies for years now and many of our players have been using the Razer eXactMat since it first came out,” says Jesse “Koorban” Ryan, EG’s World of Warcraft gamer. “We’re psyched to be involved in testing on the Razer Destructor and we’re looking forward to using it in all of our future matches.” Jesse snared the top spot at the North American 5 vs 5 Regionals and was 3rd at the World 5 vs 5 Championships. EG’s hot streak has continued in recent times with 3rd place finishes at Blizzcon 2007 and WSVG Toronto.

Quote from Razer’s president:
“Other gaming-grade surfaces today lack the ability to truly accommodate gaming optical and laser sensors,” says Robert “Razerguy” Krakoff, president of Razer. “The Razer Destructor is designed specifically for gaming mice. Where other gaming surfaces fail, the Razer Destructor shines through and gives gaming mice the ability to achieve the tracking ability that they are designed for.”
